Geometry, literally translated to “Earth Measure,” focuses on the physical aspects of the world. This branch of mathematics deals with the measurements, properties, and relationships of points, lines, angles, surfaces, and solids. Geometry also deals with logic, using inductive and deductive reasoning as an integral part of geometric thinking. Geometry is closely connected to other branches of mathematics such as Algebra, Logic, Probability, and Trigonometry. Real life applications as well as a brief glimpse into the history of geometry will be evident throughout the course, we will also devote some study to formal proofs and recreational mathematics. This course will have a Waldorf-Inspired approach utilizing the construction of geometric designs.

assignments. Students will also complete a four-week research project.
They will have a weekly class for vocabulary review, character analyses, cultural discussion, and respectful debate on the assigned reading. They will also have a weekly spelling test. During class, each writing assignment will be explained in detail using pertinent examples of the type of writing expected. The writing process will be reinforced, and students will have the opportunity.

“But he is not always alone. When the long winter nights come on and the
wolves follow their meat into the lower valleys, he may be seen running at
the head of the pack through the pale moonlight or glimmering Borealis,
leaping gigantic above his fellows, his great throat a-bellow as he sings a
song of the younger world, which is the song of the pack.”

Welcome to Physical Science!! Physical Science is a year long course that explores the relationship between matter and energy. Students will investigate forces and motion, the chemical and physical properties of matter, the ways in which matter and energy interact within the natural world, electricity, light, sound waves, and the forms and properties of energy. This course is closely aligned with the California state standards, and a great option for an introductory course for students planning to take AP science classes in the future. This class will be held twice per week, Wednesday (live zoom- distant learning) and Friday in person lab hour.

Welcome to Biology!! This year long course will cover a wide range of life science concepts while also guiding the students in learning about cell structure and function, genetics and heredity, biodiversity, natural selection, ecology, human anatomy and physiology and classification of living things! Students enrolled in this class will understand basic biological science principles, being able to apply these concepts to various problems and real life applications, and express themselves using appropriate scientific vocabulary. This course is closely aligned with the California state standards, and a great option for an introductory course for students planning to take AP science classes in the future. This class will be held twice per week, Wednesday (live zoom- distant learning) and Friday in person lab hour. ** Parents Please Read: Due to the nature of biology, “a life science”, some class discussions will relate to reproduction. Visual Communication 101 is designed to lay a solid foundation through dynamic sketching that will empower student to communicate their ideas visually with authority and ease. Whether sketching out an idea on a napkin or pitching a polished visual presentation, these concept design skills will serve students the rest of their lives. They will be able to translate what they see in their mind into a visual medium others can experience and dialogue about. The class will take students on a journey of understanding the construction of the 3-D world around them and translate it onto a 2-D surface. This is a college prep class that will build confidence and set students up for success in visual design and communication.
