3-6th grade
Students will use the Mathematical Reasoning curriculum. This book focuses on building thinking skills around arithmetic, teaches fractions and introduces algebraic concepts with fun and approachable puzzles. We go through the book together, some pages done in class and others at home. Students who have strong math skills or would like to take their studies beyond the base curriculum can be assigned supplemental materials to boost their thinking skills.
7th and 8th grade
Students will work through the Bright Thinker curriculum. These books solidify the math skills learned in elementary school and prepare students for high school math. We’ll review many different concepts that include number sets, exponents, order of operations, and inverse operations. We will also enter the world of algebra and geometry. We will work together in class as well as independently at home.
The Jubilate English enrichment class covers both English grammar and creative writing. For the grammar component, we follow the Easy Grammar curriculum. For creative writing we follow the Well Trained Mind curriculum. We switch the focus each year between the two, but always keep elements of each so the students don't fall behind in either.
I teach concepts and students complete assignments in class twice a week. Then there are homework assignments that get emailed to the parents after each class. If a student misses class, I include instructions for the parent to help them keep up. I love teaching and being able to support parents on their homeschooling journey!
California History

In the first semester we will focus on CA missions and second semester will be on the gold rush. We will read a collection of books to help understand historical events, and figures. Third and fourth graders will have an opportunity to help in a buddy program with the first and second graders to help guide them in their learning process.

Then students will progress into the basics of grammar, parts of speech, and sentence structure. Each class will also feature a read aloud that will integrate the types of different works of literature (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, etc).
Students will begin by learning number recognition and basic number theory. Then progress into basic operations. Students will also explore geometry, measurement, and time.
This class will occur on a biweekly rotation.
Students will learn the basic theories of science in a non-literature way. Due to the age of the group, this class is appropriate for none readers. Concepts will be talk in an auditory, visual and kinesthetic manner.

Wednesdays 9:00am-10:30am
This hybrid class will start by helping students master the basic number theory concepts such as place value, pattern recognition, and multi-digit operations. We will then progress into fractions, decimals, and their operations. The concept of negative numbers (integers) will also be addressed at a basic level. After achieving proficiency in the fundamentals, we will then apply those concepts to other areas. such as geometry, measurements, data, and probability & statistics. This class will meet for 1.5 hours in person with daily independent practice assigned each week to ensure adequate practice. Students will develop responsibility, self-regulation, and accountability by maintaining a weekly routine and turning in homework regularly.
